Baby Quilt for William (born Dec 2011)

So this was my first attempt at both really quilting AND binding.  SO many mistakes, but I'm still fairly happy with the final result.

book covers

I just gave our family friend a Bible with a homemade Bible cover.  She didn't have a Bible in Tagalog, so it was double fun giving this gift to her.

I followed the tutorial at amyscreativeside.com (another Amy).

Then I couldn't wait to try out a tutorial for a Kindle cover, since I've been holding off ordering one on Amazon (I wasn't too excited about spending $35 for a simple cover).  Here in Manila they cost like $70, and I wasn't about to drop that kind of money!  So I followed the tutorial by SevenSisters and I'm super pleased with the result:

I've just started reading The Help after just hearing about the movie (we have no clue what's playing in the States, really).  I am loving it.  I know it doesn't give the rosiest picture of Mississippi, but it is so fun reading about my home state and the city where I became an adult (Jackson).

These are the most recent baby quilts I made...

I'm looking for a place to update my latest creative exploits.  Sewing things is helping me stay sane as a mother living overseas.
